Hakka Village and Quanzhou
The Hakka people whose ancestors migrated from China's Central Plain 500 to 1,000 years ago built very unique castles "Tulou" deep in the remote mountains, some of which the UNESCO has recognized as World Heritage in 2008. Students can stay in a hotel converted from Tulou. In the nearby port Quanzhou, which was one of the world's most prosperous port cities in the 11th century handling the trade of the Maritime Silk Road.
